Continuing our pre-DFW Record Show series, we showcase the importance of Fort Worth in the development (many would say the birth) of western swing music. By 1929 Bob Wills had moved from Hall County in North Texas to Fort Worth, and in the next year he created the Wills Fiddle Band with guitarist Herman Arnspiger and singer Milton Brown. They became the core of the renowned Light Crust Doughboys, and by the mid-Thirties Wills and Brown had created separate powerhouse bands, ensuring that their fusion of rural fiddle music, blues, and jazz would play a crucial role in pre-country evolution.
